It is my pleasure to welcome you to our Symposium, GEOMAT 2015, on behalf of the Organising Committee.
This symposium, now at its third edition, is intended as a landmark in the field of geomatics. It is organized annually by the Faculty of Hydrotechnics, Geodesy and Environmental Engineering.
The first edition of this symposium commemorated the bicentennial celebration of the foundation of the technical and engineering education in Romanian by a famous cultural scholar, Gheorghe Asachi. The date of November 15, 1813, when the foundations of The School of Cadastral Science and Engineering within the Royal Academy of Iaşi were laid, is the anniversary moment for both our university and for the entire technical and engineering higher education in Romanian.
Sections of the program (Geodesy and Cartography; Engineering Geodetic Measurements; Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing; Cadastre and Real Estate Publicity; Real Estate Valuation; Geographic Information Systems, Applied and Environmental Science) highlight the importance of spatial reference data use in society, and especially in the field of engineering that has spatial information as its support.
We wish you all a very pleasant stay in Iasi and a successful and interesting Symposium, which should bring new highlights, information and ideas to everybody.
